UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON STUDENTS PLACE FIRST IN THEIR REGION IN MICROSOFT IMAGINE CUP COMPETITION - Team AgileAgents Perform Well in Software Design Competition
In late May, University of Houston students Pavan Podila, Puneet Sarda, and Thomas Nguyen, collectively known as Team AgileAgents, traveled to the Microsoft campus in Redmond, WA to compete in the Imagine Cup 2005 U.S. Software Design Invitational.
During the event, participating teams were divided into nine groups to compete against each other in "mock" regionals. Team AgileAgents presented their application CrystalThought in front of a panel of judges made up of Microsoft employees and software industry luminaries. Team AgileAgents placed first in their region and was awarded $1,000 and the right to advance to the next round to compete for the title of U.S. Software Design Champions.
In the next round, although the judges were very impressed with CrystalThought, first place went to a team from Virginia Commonwealth University, who will represent the U.S. at the worldwide finals in July.
