Ongoing Giving Opportunities

We need your help to maintain NSM’s high quality of education. Laboratories and other teaching facilities must be continually upgraded to keep up with new technologies. We compete for the best faculty members with universities that can offer better compensation and research facilities. Our students, many of whom are the first in their families to attend college, need scholarships.

NSM offers the following annual giving opportunities:

  • teachHOUSTON Challenge Fund – Support future math and science teachers with a gift in any amount.
  • NSM Learning. Leading! Fund – Broadest level of support within the college for faculty, students and programs.
  • NSM Scholarship Excellence Fund – Provides scholarship assistance for with a declared major within any of our six departments.
  • Melinda Irwin Scholarship Endowment Fund – Melinda Irwin was a UH employee in IT-Enterprise Systems for many years – her family and friends established this scholarship for NSM students because of her love for the college.
  • The Joseph Schatz Scholarship for Non-traditional Mathematics Students – Joseph Schatz was a math professor at UH for 25 years. His family established this scholarship in his memory to support math majors returning to school mid-life, or who are the first in their families to go to college.
  • Department of Biology and Biochemistry Learning. Leading! Fund – Broadest level of support within the Department for its faculty, students, facilities and programs.
  • Department of Chemistry Learning. Leading! Fund – Broadest level of support within the Department for its faculty, students, facilities and programs.
  • Department of Computer Science Learning. Leading! Fund – Broadest level of support within the Department for its faculty, students, facilities and programs.
  • Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences Learning. Leading! Fund – Broadest level of support within the Department for its faculty, students, facilities and programs.
  • Department of Mathematics Learning. Leading! Fund – Broadest level of support within the Department for its faculty, students, facilities and programs.
  • Department of Physics Learning. Leading! Fund – Broadest level of support within the Department for its faculty, students, facilities and programs.
