NSM advancement activities
help college constituents learn about and appreciate the important
achievements and contributions of our faculty, students, and
staff. Information gathering, timely news reporting, marketing,
and publications preparation are responsibilities of this office.
An important element of the advancement mission is communication
with potential and current students and keeping in touch with
our graduates.
NSM’s science writer, Noelle Heinze, connects with faculty
members and academic and research units for news about the latest
developments, and skillfully generates stories for publication.
Since she collaborates with the university’s communications
office, her work often finds its way into news releases.
Christopher Cheatham, program manager for advancement, is the
creative force behind “In the Know,” a multifaceted
ongoing communication program geared toward current students.
He also is the staff advisor for the College of Natural Sciences
and Mathematics Ambassadors and leads them in their valuable
work for the college.
Since advancement is all about projecting positive messages,
students are important members of our team. The NSM Ambassadors
program, established three years ago, is successful because of
the talent and commitment of its student members and the training
they receive. NSM Ambassadors recruit talented students to UH,
serve as hosts and ushers at college events, and engage with
alumni and friends of the college at special events.
I invite you to review these pages and to contact us if we can
be of service. Please check back periodically as we add more
