Graduate assistants are full-time graduate students who hold an appointment requiring the performance of duties such as classroom instruction, research, or other academic duties as assigned. Each department offers teaching assistantships and many faculty regularly employ research assistants and post-doctoral fellows. Information about graduate assistant positions can be requested from the individual departments.
A post-baccalaureate student is one who has earned one or more degrees and has not been admitted formally to a graduate program. Students may apply courses taken as a post-baccalaureate to a graduate degree under limited conditions. If you contemplate enrolling in NSM as a post-baccalaureate student, you should discuss your situation with the departmental graduate advisor prior to your first enrollment.
Each department within the college maintains a detailed set of academic regulations governing both the M.S. and the Ph.D. degrees. It is the responsibility of students to obtain a copy of these regulations from their respective department at, or before, their initial enrollment.
