Spring Graduation

New Traditions

Beginning this May, graduation events at the University of Houston will consist of two coordinated ceremonies: University Commencement, held at TDECU Stadium, and the College Convocations, held at locations around campus.

University Commencement on May 15 is the formal university-wide celebration with all of the colleges where the students’ degrees will be conferred by President Renu Khator.

College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics
Spring 2015 Convocation – Thursday, May 14

Time: 9-11 am
Location: Hofheinz Pavilion, 3875 Holman Street

The NSM Convocation will include all Spring 2015 bachelor’s, master’s and Ph.D. degree candidates from the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. Families and friends are encouraged to attend.

Information for Graduation Candidates

NSM Convocation on May 14 is part of the University of Houston’s new tradition of a two-part graduation celebration. In the NSM Convocation, all Spring 2015 graduation candidates will be individually recognized and will walk across the platform when their names are called. Tickets are not required for guests attending the NSM Convocation. The University Commencement will be held May 15.

Cap and Gown/Announcements
Graduation candidates will wear regalia (cap and gown). You can order regalia online from Herff Jones through March 17. After that date, regalia can be purchased at the UH bookstore. Announcements can also be ordered from the Herff Jones website.

Arrival Time NSM Convocation – Graduation Candidates
Students must arrive at 7:30 a.m. at the Yeoman Field House. Enter through the Alumni Center entrance on Cullen Blvd. Only Graduation Candidates will be allowed in the doors for line up.

Doors to Hofheinz Pavilion will open at 8 a.m., one hour prior to the start of Convocation.

Guest Tickets
Tickets are not required for admission to the NSM Convocation. However, seating is first come, first served.

Students or Guests with Special Needs

Please contact Melissa Lowrey at mlowrey@uh.edu at least two weeks prior to NSM Convocation to plan how we can best accommodate your needs on this exciting day. We can assist guests with mobility or hearing-impaired needs.

Guests with Mobility Needs

  • Special seating is available, but limited. Please plan to arrive early.
  • For guests with mobility impairments, the doors will open at 7:30 a.m., 30 minutes earlier than the scheduled time, so you can be comfortably seated.
  • In order to accommodate as many mobility-impaired guests as possible, there will be a strict limit of one guest accompanying the mobility-impaired guest in the reserved seating area. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause your group.
